The latter, on the outside and under occasional pressure, took a short lead when straightened out for the drive and was under strong urging in the final stages, but could not withstand the winner. ALSERVANT forced the pace from the start and stood a long drive gamely, but tired in the final sixteenth. BEAUTIFUL BUD, prominent throughout, faltered in the stretch drive".
