PERFECT ONE, under strong restraint for five-eighths and saving ground, responded when called upon approaching the final eighth and, ridden out through the final eighth, disposed of TRUMONT. The latter, on the outside and under occasional pressure, took a short lead when straightened out for the drive and was under strong urging in the final stages, but could not withstand the winner. ALSERVANT forced the pace from the start and stood a long drive gamely, but tired in the final sixteenth. BEAUTIFUL BUD, prominent throughout, faltered in the stretch drive". ROYAL CLOUD had no mishaps. The others were outrun. APROPOS was steered to the outside for the final drive and, under strong pressure, was unable to reach the leaders, but withstood GLOWSET. The latter finished gamely.
