final week at covington Latonia Cup Final Feature on Closing Day Next Saturday Fixture Has a Brilliant Past. LATONIA, Ky., Oct. 3. Latonia swings into its final week of Fall racing when it resumes its schedule tomorrow. As a feature for closing day, the Latonia Cup, for year? one of the leading attractions of the autumn season, will be revived over the gruelling distance of two and one-quarter miles. Probably no Cup race in America Is as rich in traditions and numbered among its winners are such gallant stars as Mike Hall, Chacolet, Royal Julian, Pif Jr., Star Jasmine, Rudolfo, Star Charter, Lady Errant, Alta-wood, Exterminator, Radio and others. Mike Hall won two renewals of the race and in a triumph over Royal Julian, Woolridge and others in 1927, he established the present track and Ameiican record of 3:48. After adding the Latonia Cup to his list of triumphs as a three-year-old Exterminator attempted to repeat the following year, but Be Frank led him to the finish. When Chacolet won the 1923 renewal the race carried 5,000 in added money. This, year it will be an overnight handicap with a ,000 added value and 00 additional to be distributed among the trainers of the, first three horses. Nominations for the race do not close until Thursday, with weights and acceptances through the usual procedure Friday morning. Among the early entries for the race are Al au Feu, Rhimeda, Star Banner, Double R., Kievs Pennant, Glasby, Jeffer-sontown, Carneliari, Son Richard and Gay Jay. Featuring tomorrows program will be an allowance race for two-year-olds. Among the entries are Oddesa Knight, Susie Bell, Col. Scott and others. Seven other events, a majority of which attracted good sized fields, will support the six furlongs dash.
