BRILLIANT ROCK, far back early, would not extend himself fully until the last five-sixteenths, then moved up stoutly and was going gamely at the end. LEONARD" WILSON was unable to keep pace early, began moving up on the inside leaving the back stretch, saved considerable ground on the stretch turn and closed with a belated burst of speed. SPARKLING, in closest pursuit of the pace for the first half mile, tired steadily when, reaching the stretch. GERT B. was well placed, but was unable to make up any ground under pressure. PHARATIME moved up menacingly nsaring the stretch turn, then dropped back steadily. ELYLEE was unable to enter into serious contention. GALADORE was steadied along in back of the early leaders for the first half mile, swung to the outsider when reaching the stretch, closed fast and, getting to the front, drew out steadily in the last sixteenth CARBECK, under slight restraint while in near attendance of THE ALAMO, disposed of the latter when, called upon, but was no match for the winner in the closing test. THE ALAMO had speed from the start, saved all possible ground, but was unable to maintain his advantage during the last three-sixteenths. BAYDROP raced along in the first flight all the way. PRIMER displayed good speed under hustling tactics for the first half mile, faltering steadily through the stretch run. ROUGH TIME took command in the first hundred, yards, cut out a fast pace, but never could draw clear of GAY BALKO and just missed holding the "winner safe in the final drive. SUNPORT, away slowly and a trailer for the first three-eighths, was brought to the outside when reaching the stretch and closed wearing down the leader rapidly. GAY BALKO had good speed in disputing the lead, then faltered through the last three-sixteenths. NATTY BOY lacked his usual early speed and was unable to reach the leaders. WISE PRINCE seemed anchored under his impost. MUCHO GUSTO, away fast, dropped back steadily. SILENT SHOT was far back until the last half mile, began moving up gradually when leaving the back stretch and, coming to the outside when reaching the stretch, responded gamely to pressure and was along in the closing strides to outlast SAIDONA. The latter had speed from the start, met stubborn opposition from JEZREEL before getting to the front and just failed to hold on long enough. JEZREEL raced to the front at once, withstood repeated bids from SAIDONA, but was unable to go along with the first two during the closing seventy yards. KHAY was far back early and closed a good gap in the last three-eighths, but was unable to endanger the leaders. VITOX had brief early speed.
