CABIN GAL VICTOR IN FEATURE Thirtieth Anniversary Handicap Falls to Superior Speed of Giddings Filly 15,000 Attend.. TORONTO, Ont., Oct. 15 Cabin Gal, three-year-old home-bred daughter of Marine Calm, racing for the Four Ls Stable, raced to a popular victory in the running of the Thirtieth Anniversary Handicap, opening day feature of Dufferin Park. Ridden by P. Remillard, she drove to the finish a length and one-half before J. G. Fairs Mervin B. Third place went to Crius, from the stable of S. Chris, a head back. Cabin Gal was under the impost of 112 pounds and raced the mile and one-sixteenth in 1:51 over the half-mile oval. Fifteen thousand fans packed the stands and centerfield for the opening of the final weeks racing in the dominion. Warm weather prevailed, while the racing strip was at its best. POST DELAY. There was a delay of three minutes at the gate when Cabil Gal acted unruly, but starter Clark had them away in good order. Mervin B. was the first to show from the stalls and drove into the lead. Cabin Gal broke fast from the outside and was rushed forward to a contending position. As they rounded the paddock turn for the first time, Mervin B. raced into the lead, while Cabin Gal was in second position before Crius. After completing the first turn of the course, Cabin Gal came out slightly and Crius drove through to take the lead, while Mervin B. dropped back to third place. After rounding the paddock turn for the second time, Remillard sent Cabin Gal to the leading Crius and they battled for the lead to the head of the stretch. Here, Crius faltered and Cabin Gal went to the lead and in the short run to the wire drew clear to enjoy a clear lead at the finish. Mervin B. came again, and in the final furlong outfinished the faltering Crius to take second place. Rowes Crump, Trickys Son and Tommy Rose raced well back of the first three throughout and at no stage threatened.
