The latter, under good rating and saving ground was placed under strong urging in the stretch drive, took command approaching the final eighth and continued gamely to just miss. CARDIBRE lacked early speed, was steered to the outside fa the last quarter and closing strongly, was reaching the leaders at the end. BLIND SAGE, never a creat distance back and under strong pressure in the closing stages, finished resolutely. SARAH JUSTICE, nicely placed in the early stages, saved ground throughout, was strongly urged through the final quarter, took command approaching the final eighth and, holding on gamely, just lasted. GRANDMAS BOY, under restraint and allowed to settle in best stride under good handling in the final drive, might have been best in another stride. DAME GRUNDY forced the pace from the start, took command turning into the stretch, continued gamely under pressure, but was not good enough KAYAK moved to the leaders with a rush, but hung in the last seventy yards. THE BREAK was on the outside throughout. BEAUTIFUL BUD, hustled into command, had nothing left for the drive. MAGIC WINNIE had a burst of early speed.
