THIRD COVEY, under slight restraint while following in pursuit of the pace, responded readily to hard urging passing the eighth post and, taking the lead, drew out fast in the closing fifty yards. CHIEF COUNSEL drove through on the inside after leaving the back stretch as the leaders bore out, drew clear and, while holding on willingly, was no match for the winner when challenged. SIDE ARM was well placed all the way and held on with good energy to the close. TOWN PRINCE was going willingly at the close after being unable to keep up early. SUN PHAROS, hard ridden to keep up early, was unable to threaten when placed under punishment. DARKMELUS, away slowly, was unable to enter into contention. Won ridden out; second and third driving. SUN ARBOR was steadied along back of the leaders in the run through the back stretch, obtained clear sailing on the inside while bettering position, raced into an easy load when ROSEMAIN bore out at the stretch turn and, hard ridden through the stretch, was never seriously threatened. EYE HIGH, in close quarters nearing the far turn and blocked when attempting to better position, moved up steadily when gaining racing room and finished with good courage. ROSEMAIN had speed from the start, but bore out badly while showing the way at the stretch turn and finished out beyond the middle of the track. SUNABELL, away slowly, worked his way up gradually and finished with good energy. READY-ABOUT had brief early speed. WOODLARK made up some ground. GOLDEN FATE, away fast, opened up daylight on his closest pursuer before going the first quarter mile, was steadied along in front and, hard ridden through the stretch, was never seriously threatened. BRIGHT SOX, slow to begin, worked his way up gradually in the last three-eighths and was along in the closing strides to wear down DREEL. The latter was well placed from the start and, hard ridden in an effort to reach the leader, tired through the last seventy yards. FREDRICK was unable to keep up. IDOLATRY was unable to reach the leaders. FERRYBOAT dropped back after rounding the far turn. FOURTH RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. Appealing. GLENBROOM moved through on the inside to dispose of LUNSFORD for the lead, continued to save all possible ground and drew out steadily in the last eighth. HIGH TENSION, slow to begin and outpaced for the first half mile, came stoutly in the stretch run. LUNSFORD displayed speed from the start, made a game bid to go along with the winner when challenged, but gave way steadily during the final sixteenth. GAY WORLD, unable to reach the leaders early, was on the outside throughout and closed some ground during the late stages. JESSIE V. L. followed along within striking distance of the leaders for the first three-eighths and tired when placed under punishment. WISE HILDRED raced to the front at once, drew clear in the opening three-sixteenths, increased her advantage before reaching the stretch and, rousted repeatedly through the stretch, was never seriously threatened. BLOOMER GIRL worked her way up gradually, saved ground all the way and finished determinedly through the stretch run. BRIGHT SPOT, under snug restraint while following along within striking distance of the leader, moved up willingly when called upon, but was unable to close any ground through the stretch and tired slightly through the last thirty yards. CIRCUS NIGHT, outpaced early, moved up nearing the stretch, but was unable to better her position under punishment thereafter. NIGHT CHASE raced well for the first throe-eighths. MYRON dropped back in the run down the tar side of the track then closed gamely under punishment in the last quarter mile. SAXOPAL, under stout restraint while in close pursuit of the pace, failed to respond when called upon. GENAIBI tired under punishment during the last eighth.
