CONTINUE WHEELING PRACTICE Reserved Seats Sold in Grandstand on Decoration Day Only. All Boxes Reserved Throughout Meeting as Usual— All Buildings Repainted for May 27 Opening. WHEELING, W. Va., May 16.— A custom established at Wheeling Downs last spring will be continued at the coming spring meeting, it was announced by Edward J. Bren-nan, managing director, who revealed that reserved seats will be sold in the grandstand on Decoration Day only. The practice established a year ago won high favor with the fans and the resumption of the plan to throw the grandstand open throughout the sixteen-day meeting beginning May 27, except for the holiday, no doubt will again meet with wide approval. All boxes in the grandstand will, as usual, be reserved throughout the meeting and reservations for grandstand seats on Tuesday. May 30, and season boxes are now being accepted by Lou Hoffman, in charge of ticket sales. BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The clubhouse is governed by the board of governors of the West Virginia Turf Club, sponsored by the Service League which at present is soliciting a limited membership for the spring meeting. Admittance to the clubhouse is by membership only and the clubhouse veranda is not reserved. Last Decoration Day the Wheeling Downs grandstand, seating approximately 4,500, was packed to capacity when almost 10,000 turned out for the holiday sport. Every inch of space was occupied and interest in the valleys greatest sporting event indicates another banner crowd. The grandstand has been decked out in a new dress of cream and green paint and the customers who get their first glimpse of the half-mile layout on May 27 will see as fine a half-mile track as there is anywhere in this country.
