Stars of Thistle Down Meet Test Speed Today Lawless Miss, Tubby B., Silent Partner and King Pine in Field RANDALL PARK, North Randall, Ohio, May 27. The best of the thoroughbreds at this course have been grouped in one stellar event that will feature the final Saturday program of this meeting. Holding this position on the all-round outstanding nine-race presentation is the six-furlong Plain Dealer Handicap. George Y. Bookers champion mare, Lawless Miss, has been assigned the top impost of 122 pounds by racing secretary L. H. Van Zandt. This assignment gives her a decided handicap over her more lightly burdened, but only slightly less renowned rivals, who include her recent conqueror, Samuel J. Browns Tubby B., 117; the "Western-streak," Gill Cattle Companys Silent Partner, 114; Tom Koonces My Wash, 113; Stephen Utz local favorite, King Pine, 111; Mrs. C. and R. A. Browns erstwhile stakes winner, Tennessee Kid, 108; Mrs. L. Mc-Knights Radar Man, 108, and five other worthwhile foes. Whoever captures this contest will most likely be accorded the title as the top performer of this meeting which will come to a conclusion on Monday. As the situation now stands, Lawless Miss will be facing a task to recapture her reputation as being-non-beatble by the competition afforded here in this racing sector. Coming here from Lincoln Downs with a long record of triumphs, she easily accounted for the Inaugural Handicap, but competing in a longer distanced handicap, gave way to Tubby B., in the final drive. She formerly defeated the Detroit-owned racer, and must be given favoritism to do so again despite the retention of her prohibitive weight, which calls upon her to spot Tubby B. 10 pounds on the scale and five pounds in actual weight. King Pine, Radar Man and My Wash each has been impressive in victory with the locally-owned King Pine scoring one of the easiest triumphs of the meeting at a distance of six furlongs last week. Under the weight conditions this strapping son of Prince Pine and Demurrer appears the most decided threat to Lawless Miss. Arizona-bred Silent Partner is the "dark-horse" of the field, and although his real capabilities have never been tested at six furlongs, his latest triumph will attract many backers. This five-year-old son of Montoso James and Covollie gained a reputation as being one of the fastest thoroughbreds in the country during his Western campaign at match races and quarter-horse meetings. Trainer Lyo Lee has-been training him to go the six-furlong distance, and in his races here has instructed his rider to conserve his speed until the final j stages. In his first six-furlong test, Silent Partner appeared short for the effort and weakened. However, last Wednesday he displayed startling gameness to rally in the final few yards when urged, and won going away.
