ROMAN VICTORY went into a slight lead on the inside before a quarter, was hard put when straightened for the drive and outgamed MOONS END. The latter forced the pace on the outside throughout and weakened in the closing strides. BOLD STAR saved ground while prominent and showed a good effort. RAMON A was well placed and had no mishap. GOLD CALL was slow to gain stride and lacked room in the backstretch, worked his way up between horses on the turn, went to the outside for the drive and wore down DIESEL SAND for the place. The latter saved ground while improving position and had no excuse. WINNEBAGO tired. CHANCE TAKER lost ground. SAFE GIFT quit. TWEEN MEALS was outrun. WILLWIN had brief speed and quit. Start good from stall gate. Won easily; second and third driving. MERRYTOWN went into a slight lead before reaching the turn, came to the inside when clear and won easily. MISS BLACK was well placed from the start, but lacked speed in the opening stages, then closed with good courage. FANNY WELSH forced the pace on the rail and displayed a willing effort. DAME POLLY, slow to begin, went up between horses with belated speed in the drive. COMIC LADY had no excuse. REDWOOD LASS was through early. GAME WEATHER lacked speed. TIME LARK, slow to begin, was sent up quickly on the outside, went between horses to be closest to the pace, bore in slightly when challenging the leader, took command and drew clear in the closing furlong. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of FLO LASSIE was not allowed. FLO LASSIE went into the lead on the rail midway of the turn, then weakened in the final stages. INSIST, slowest to break, worked his way up steadily between horses and finished strongly. ELAINE 0. had on excuse. COPPER TINT was knocked back at the start. BIRD SHOT, away fast, dropped back sharply and failed to menace. MISS QUINLAN was carried wide coming out for the turn. BY ME ran out coming out of the turn. HERBIE G. established a comfortable lead after a furlong, then gave way in the final quarter.,- COMPATRIOT lost ground while forwardly placed and tired. WATCH ANDY was outrun. FLY OUT quit. Won driving; second and third the same. UP GRADE, never far back, improved position on the outside when ready for the drive and outfinished TEDDY REIGH. The latter was a sharp factor on the rail early, was on even terms for the lead between horses in the stretch, but was no tgood enough. GREYTOWN gave way after making the pace until the final furlong. EASY DOUGH saved ground and showed a good effort. CARMARGO BILL, slow to gain stride, closed resolutely and should improve when sent a longer distance. SANDSLINGER had to excuse. ROUSING NIGHT tired after showing early speed.
