New Jersey Notes GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 27. Jimmy McGee reports that a colt foal broke a leg at Shamrock Farm, Md., last week and had to be destroyed. The youngster was by British Buddy, from an un-raced m Roman mare. Jockey Charles Wahler has been discharged from a Philadelphia hospital after undergoing an operation for injuries to his shoulder. George Stidham, an apprentice under contract to trainer W. S. Cotton, will be handled by Harold "Fats" Wiseman through this meeting. Henry J. Carroll, chief aide to racing secretary Ty Shea, who entered Cooper Hospital in Camden last week for a thorough checkup has been removed to his home in Hagerstown, Md., and probably will not return during this meeting. Frank Catrone, trainer for William G. Helis, will take 18 head to Delaware Park at the conclusion of the local meeting. Others will proceed to Monmouth Park to await that session. Social Side; a winner here last week for the Redland Stable, will be ridden by Charlie Givens in the William Penn Stakes, according to agent Jimmy James. Raise You, a stakes winner in Jersey last season and C All You, full sisters, have a full brother on the grounds in Ladys Ace. Raise You and C all You are owned by Cortright Wetherill, while Ladys Ace is the property of Mrs. C. A. Carlino. Palatine Stables Quiz Show is a definite starter in Mondays renewal of the 0,000 William Penn Stakes. Johnny Gilbert, who has been riding successfully at this point, will be astride the youngster. William Helis British Isles, winner of last years Grassland Handicap at Arlington Park, has been picked up by trainer Frank Catrone and will be returned to training. British Isles is a five-year-old Irish-bred and earned 7,650 last year with four victories in 12 races. Jimmy Stewart will ship five head to Delaware Park today, including Dr. Almac, who will start in the 0,000 Brandywine Handicap, feature of the Memorial Day program. G. M. Cohens Denagee, a five-year-old gelded son of Jack High, who broke down badly while finishing third in his most recent race, has been returned to the farm by trainer Charlie White. Honeywell Farms Faneuil Miss, winner of the recent Bay State Kindergarten Stakes at Suffolk Downs, and Mrs. F. A. Genters Unbridled, who finished second in that event, are en route from the New England course to Garden State Park to fulfill stakes engagements at this point. Faneuil Miss is eligible to Saturdays Rancocas and Unbridled is named for Mondays running of the William Penn Stakes. G. Ray Bryson, who has been a patient in a Philadelphia hospital for several days, left for his home in Kingsville, Md. Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts First Glance, a two-year-old son of Discovery, will be shipped to Garden State Park within the next day or so to fulfill his engagement in the 0,000 added William Penn Stakes, which comes up for its seasonal renewal on Memorial Day. Jockey Danny Perlsweig, native of Newtown Square, Pa., who broke his left wrist and hand in a fall at Havre de Grace early in the spring, has had the cast removed from the injured member and expects to be galloping horses within the next two weeks. Bowspin, an eight-year-old gelding, went to the races for the first time yesterday at Garden State Park. Bred by H. M. Woolf, of the famed Woolford Farm near Kansas City, the son of Bow to Me finished a dead last in a field of 11 route runners in the days final race. Trainer Tommy Heard, Jr., reported today that Nearway, two-time stakes winner this year, has fully recovered from injuries sustained while performing in a recent overnight race at Garden State Park. Herb Lindberg has been engaged to handle Admirals Mate, a Maine Chance colorbearer, in Mondays renewal -of the 0,000 William Penn Stakes at Garden State Park. George D. Wideners Uptown, juvenile son of Jamestown, qualified impressively for his Monday engagement in the 0,000 William Penn Stakes at Garden State Park when he won Thursdays fourth event.
