Seventeen Seek Honors In Kings Plate Today Epic, Speedy Irish Co-Choices For Historic Woodbine Fixture WOODBINE PARK, Toronto, Ont., May 27. The Kings Plate, classic of the Canadian turf, will have its ninetieth running at Woodbine Park tomorrow. A field of 17, the cream of the homebred three-year-old crop, are slated to compete in the run of a mile and one-furlong for a purse of 0,000 added, plus 50 Guineas, the gift of his Majesty the King. An anticipated throng of 30,000 will witness the renewal which on paper looks as the most competitive Plate in many years. Split favorites are E. P. Taylors Epic, winner of a division of the Plate Trial a week ago, and C. G. McCullaghs Speedy Irish, who shared trial honors. Epic, who has only made one start, is considered a colt, of considerable class, but must prove his staying ability over the longer distance. Speedy Irish, dominated the Canadian-bred juvenile ranks of last year making a clean sweep of autumn stakes. He is a proven stayer and shown ability to sprint as well. Closest rival to this paid in future favoritism is John Stuarts Bunty Line, second to Epic in the Plate Trial. He is a colt who has shown definite tendency to longer distances. The remaining entrants are Mrs. M. Del-lers Royal Bomber, R. W. Grants Bay Companion, L. H. Nelles Ramillion, James G. Fairs Regan Lad, C. H. Hemsteads Bunty Jewel, V. J. Sheridans Foxy Rythm, Parkwood Stables Mandated, H. W. Taylors Kan Dis, S. Chris Bolaris, Braeside Stables Grandhem, H. R. Bains Gfaydon Tina, Elmbrook Farms Elmbrook Joe, G. B. Elliots Filsis and C. H. Hem-steads Pathem. A lightning fast track prevailed on the eve of the running and with continued fair weather, there is anticipation that Last Marks race record of 1:52, made last year, would be broken.
