Racing Board Reveals Adams Received Threatening Letter WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., June 14. — It was revealed today by Stuy-vesant Peabody, Jr., chairman of the Illinois Racing Board, that jockey Johnny Adams and his family had been threatened with bodily harm if Adams did not agree to participate in a plan to fix races. The ominus message was received in a letter addressed to Adams and turned over to the racing board by the rider, who was abducted and severly beaten up by hoodlums early Tuesday morning. The letter, bearing a Chicago postal date, was addressed to Adams at his Steger, HI., quarters. "The matter is under investigation by the Hlinois Racing Board," Peabody said. "The letter, or copies of the same, have been turned over to the F. B. I., the United States Postal Inspector, and the States Attorney of Cook County for further investigation." Adams will not do any more riding at the present meeting. He plans to travel to Delaware Park to ride Saturday afternoon and be back at Arlington Park Monday
