LOCADAH was in rather tight quarters early, but moved up when clear to take command entering the last sixteenth and won under pressure. JANES GAL lacked early speed and was in the rear in the first part, but closed much ground and was going well at the end. POCKET ALL was never too far away and came on the inside through the stretch to stage a good finish. TURNIP TILLY had fair early speed and threatened for the leadership entering the final furlong, but was not good enough. HONOR DECK raced wide, but made up some ground. PORTERS BROOM went to the front early and soon opened up a good lead, but had to be put to hard pressure in the stretch to withstand the last furlong challenge of FLAMING BUSH. The latter was always closest to the pace setter and made a game try to be pressing him at the end. IMPULSIVE SAM raced wide in the stretch, but was going well at the end. GOOD caught ACTUATE after going a short distance, then shook her off entering the stretch and held DOWN YONDER through the final furlong. DOWN YONDER, never far away, saved ground where possible in the late stages and was going well at the finish. ACTUATE went fairly well after being caught. ETERNAL SIR was racing evenly at the end. ANXIOUS was close to the pace while racing on the outside and, forging to the front an eighth out, was hustled along to the end to hold HOBAD. The latter was close to BLEN SAND while the latter was making the pace and headed the field momentarily nearing the last furlong, but was unable to hold the winner. BLEN SAND showed good form in making the pace, but weakened slightly under pressure. JUDY lacked the early speed to keep up and seemed to be in close quarters on the inside on the stretch turn, then came to the middle of the track, but was unable to improve her position. STRIKE OUT was outpaced early and failed to loom as a possibility until the stretch was reached, then came strongly and steadily on the outside to . gain gradually and be up to beat LUCKY NED in the final strides. LUCKY NED also moved well when called uDon and, finding an opening on the inside in the last eighth, headed the field and just failed to last. KING DIVER, trailed early, but came strongly through the stretch. RED SAM had good speed to the last eighth, then began to Walter. GRANDMAS DAY, in close quarters on the inside on the backstretch, was forced to take up nearing the stnich turn, then came to the outside to mak another run, but had little left for the finish. BLOOM raced close to MARIE EILEEN until the stretch turn approach, then took command to widen as the latter dropped back and was not in danger of being headed in the final furlong. ARMY CONSCRIPT responded readily when called upon and staged a good - X finish, but just managed to hold EMERALD to a dead-heat for second place. EMERALD closed gamely on the outside after having been outrun early. HALTOM was outrun early, but closed well. ARIZONA K was never a contender. MARIE EILEEN tired badly in the stretch. GUSHING OIL was under restraint while racing on the inside and within striking distance of the leaders in the first six furlongs, continued to save ground nearing the stretch turn and, finding a wide opening when DANCE NSING bore out slightly, came through to take commad an eighth out, but was forced to a drive near the finish to hold his advantage. DANCE NSING went to the front rounding the first turn and was taken under restraint, permitted DARK COUNT to keep pace with him to the far turn, then drew out sligthly and, despite racing rather wide on the stretch turn, had something left for the finish and was pressing the winner. HAPPY GO LUCKY was close up under wraps in the early running, went rather wide on the stretch turn, but responded well to pressure In the last eighth and was close up at the end. RED CHARGER, a forward factor early, came strongly nearing the stretch turn, but went to the middle of the track in the stretch, challenged determinedly at midstretch, but lacked the power to carry through. SMOKE SCREEN failed to be an important factor. SANDTOP was never a contender in a rather weak race. DARK COUNT weakened after going seven furlongs. OUR BEAUTY seemed to be outclassed. FRENCH ADMIRAL was sent to the front early, set the pace under light restraint and had enough in reserve to hold KAY DOODY. The latter dropped back slightly when, in rather tight quarters rounding the far turn, then came on again in the stretch and raced well to the endJSbut was doing her best to hold HAPPY EAST. The latter was never far back and closed deterinedly. EXPERIMENTAL made a belated move in the final furlong and finished close up. GRAND EGYPTIAN finished fairly well.
