En Route Accounts For Cranwood Feature Race Leads Garry mark Across Wire In Near Track Record Time B w. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent CRANWOOD PARK, Warrensville Heights, Ohio, May 30. The Safiko Stables En Route turned in the second victory of four starts at this meeting, and the fourth-victory of 11 starts in todays Decoration Day Purse, the feature offering on the 10-race card. Capably handled by jockey James Baird, the winner was a half length better than the A and H Stables Garrymark after traversing the one and one-eighth miles in 1:55, just one-fifth of a second slower than the. track record. As second choice in the wagering to Garry-mark, the winner returned 1.00 for ,00. The previous high of race handle was again surpassed in the Decoration Day when, 7,602 went through the machines. Jockey James Baird had a field day, as it were, and including the victory aboard En Route, celebrated a triple. The affable reinsman was, astride Mrs. J. F. Millers Alexandrite in -the third and Mrs. C. Ca-bones Glaring in the sixth as well. The semi-final day of this 25-day meeting was favored with ideal weather for racing.. The sun was bright and although the breeze was a bit cool, the fans were warmed by the sun and the winning choices. Evidence of the support which the racing in the Cleveland area can expect in the future is the fact of the largest crowd in the history of racing at this plant and the continuous increase in mutuel play throughout the afternoon. The attendance figure was 9,580 and the mutuel play went . up leaps and bounds from the first race on.
