Memorial Day Attendances Exceed Figures of 1951 With dry, if not bright, weather at almost all turf centers, race track attendances yesterday exceeded those on Memorial Day a year ago in the majority of instances. Fourteen tracks reported an aggregate gate of 364,855, as against a total of 345,886 at 12 tracks in 1951. With an estimated 59,000 present, Hollywood Park led the list. Belmont Park was second, with 51,337. Calif or-nians went racing on the holiday in approximately the same numbers as in 1951, but in New York the throng was 2,487 less.
