. , .. Eight Speedy Rivals In Whirlaway Event Starting Time Clashes With Royals Last, Charing Light In Ak-Sar-Ben Top Offering By J. SWEENEY GRANT Staff Correspondent AK-SAR-BEN, Omaha, Nebr., May 30. Eight of the best sprinters ever to perform in this sector were named overnight to ; contest the Whirlaway Handicap, nominal . attraction on tomorrows program here. Topweighted member of the field is Mr. , and Mrs. C. M. Kennedys Starting Time, -who will answer the bugle under a 114-. -pound assessment. Slated to match strides ; with the Arizona importation in the six- ! furlong dash are Alice Likens Royals Last, 111; A. C. Sipes Charing Light, 110; S. S. Barretts Auntie, 110; Carey and Evans Ill : Be, 109; Mrs. Paul Weyermans Here Me, 108; Monaghan Stables Toubolee, 107, and English Kin, owned by the partnership of Sewel and Ormond, who has been assigned 1 104 pounds. Starting Time was impressive during his Phoenix campaign. Included among his victories at Arizona Downs was a smashing : score in the Arizona Downs Handicap, which carried a ,000 added endowment. The seven-year-old gelded son of Mah-moud encountered but a minimum of difficulty in annexing that race, easily winning by four lengths. He completed the mile and one-sixteenth of that essay in 1:50 over a sloppy track while carrying top weight of 122 pounds. Starting Time has proven an adept sprinter as well as an intermediate distance racer and the six furlongs of the Whirlaway should be equally to his liking. Also Triumphed in Princess Handicap Royals Last accounted for the first division of the Inaugural Handicap, then came back to score in the Ak-Sar-Ben Princess Handicap. Listed among his victims in his last race were Auntie and, Charing Light, who again will contest the consistent Likens gelding. Royals Last had to overcome mild difficulty in chalking up his second success as Undone, who finished second, bore over slightly on him during the entire stretch run. Auntie was bested approximately three-quarters of a length by Royals Last and gradually was getting to him at the conclusion of the six panels. In previous years, Auntie has campaigned against the better handicap and allowance stars in the New England sector and should she regain top form could easily best tomorrows opponents. Charing Light was defeated three and three-quarter lengths in the Ak-Sar-Ben Princess. The shifty sprinter had no apparent excuse in that race and will have to come forth with an improved effort to reverse the decision on Royals Last and Auntie: A three-pound drop in weigl.t should prove beneficial. Toubolee has been unsuccessful in eight starts this year during a California campaign. In her last outing at Golden Gate, she finished far back against ,000 opponents. Here Me was recently purchased at private terms from Hal Price Headley. In his first start of the year, the four -year-old son of Menow was among, the "also rans" in The Marchmont Handicap at Keeneland. That assigned weight event was contested over a muddy strip, which was not to his liking. Ill Be bested a clever group of allowance sprinters earlier in the week and from that performance warrants an opportunity to advance in classification. Ill Be is one of the more pronounced local favorites and over this strip has never failed to come forth with a creditable performance.
