The Saturday Sports Patrol By STEVE SNIDER United Press Sports Writer NEW YORK, N. Y., June 27. Sports of All Sorts: Its a rough year on star pitchers, with only Allie Reynolds of the Yankees and little Bobby Shantz of the Athletics taking bows for consistency. Sal Maglie of the Giants went up in smoke after a spectacular start, then Larry Jansen of the Giants, Gerry Staley of the Cards, Robin Roberts of the Phillies, Bob Feller of the Indians and Bob Rush of the Cubs. Reynolds, however, came back strong after a losing start and Shantz, 12-2 up to today, won 11 straight before the Indians licked him June 24. And he pitched a five-hitter that night! . . . Tennis pro Jack Kramer is haunting the locker rooms at Wimbledon with a fat check in hand hoping to land Czech exile Jaroslav Drobny for his pro tour . . Drobny, slimmed down and at peak condition, is reported willing. . . The Big Town is an old hand at staging important fights, but many ringleaders agree the Maxim - Robinson scorcher, even considering the intense heat, set a new high in confusion The topper to a. series of explosive incidents came when an official vanished with the score cards and couldnt be located for 12 hours . . Womens National AAU track meet at Waterbury, Conn., this week-end may be a tip-off on how many gals, are good enough to win a trip to the Olympics. . .Only the standouts will be carted over to vie with the iron curtain amazons at Helsinki...
