Sears Signs Twelfth Pact With Philadelphia Eagles PHILADELPHIA, Pa., June 2T UP. Thirty-four-year-old Vic Sears, oldest active tackle in point of service in the National Football League, today signed for his 12th. season with the Philadelphia Eagles. Sears has played his entire professional football career with the Eagles, signing" his first contract in 1941 from Oregon State College. Sears, who plays both offense and defense, has missed only a few games in the long playing stint. He suffered a broken leg early in the 1945 campaign and was shelved with an attack of stomach ulcers in 1947. The six-foot, three-inch Sears is outranked in NFL service only by Washingtons Sammy Baugh, who will play in his 16th campaign this fall. Bulldog Turner of the Chicago Bears, a center, also is going into his 12th season.
