New England Notes SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 27. J. Samuel Perlman, publisher of this newspaper, will witness the final program of the meeting as the guest of Judge John C. Pappas. Perlman also will attend Mondays inaugural at Narragansett Park as the guest of Judge James E. Dooley. Trainer Eddie Haughton has clinched trainers honors for the Suffolk Downs meeting, having saddled 26 winners with three racing days remaining. David Robertson is second with 19, one ahead of Johnny Dupuy. Trainer W. O. Siegert, who gallops his own charges, has only four horses at the current Downs meeting, but has done very well, saddling six winners, three seconds and two thirds. Eastern Flyway has won three races, Sneak Easy has captured two, and Half Gigger has been a winner since being claimed. Charles Ruff i,. owner of Admiral Cherry, arrived from New York and was a visitor at the Downs yesterday. I. J. White has leased the contract of John H. Smith, the promising young apprentice rider from trainer Eddie Anspach. Smith, who rode his first winner during the present meeting, has now entered the winners circle seven times. Valet James Maurer who handles jockeys Roberto Gonzalez and Leo Valdes, has been discharged from the Boston City Hospital where he was confined for two weeks and will resume his duties shortly.
