LOVELY DANCER broke alertly, forced the pace in the early stages, dropped back and moved to the outside for the drive and was along in the final stride to get the nod over CLAN NA GAEL. The latter assumed command in the stretch and appeared the winner until the final stride. CHINAWARE, a forward factor, held on tenaciously. BUSY CARRIER, slow to start, was under energetic handling throughout, but was unable to menace. KEENO showed speed for a half mile and weakened. BIT 0 LIGHT was crowded back at the start, then closed willingly. ATTAR showed nothing MI-MA had no mishap. BRUNIS STAR went wide and tired. SHIRLEYS PRIDE drew clear soon after the start, held sway until the winners bid, then continued "on to best the others. FORTNIGHT improved position gradually. LONG HILL came between horses with a belated rush. MYTHOLOGICAL went evenly. FAIR REVENUE had no mishap. TOP FOOT retired steadily after failing to get the lead. TROY ROAD showed nothing. BRIGHT GUY sprinted into a long lead soon after the start, increased the margin entering the stretch and was kept under intermittent urging to protect the lead. RUTH was hustled between horses to gain closest attendance of the leader, continued on gamely, but was unable to make up ground. DARE DEVIL saved ground to maintain position. ARMY PAL finished with a late rush. START NOW had no mishap. CANTINA was unable to keep up. FIGHTING TONY lacked early speed. LADY MICHAEL weakened after three furlongs. LITTLE FIDDLE tired. SAILED AWAY .broke alertly, was placed under steadying restraint keeping within striking distance of the leaders while saving ground to the far turn, swung to the outside for the drive and responded gamely to draw clear inside the final sixteenth. PINOCCHIO alternated in establishing the pace and held on gamely under steady pressure. MOLLIE FAGAN displayed good speed without undue pressure to the stretch, then finished willingly when roused. NOLA HASH moved with a rush on the final turn to engage the leaders, but was not good enough. PINE VILLE had no mishap.
