Blue Man Made Eligible For Providence Stakes , Expect Preakness-Yankee Winner To Go in July 12 Gansett Race NARRAGANSETT PARK, Pawtucket, R. I., June 27. Arthur W. Abbotts Blue Man, winner of the Preakness Stakes and the Yankee Handicap, heads the list of 25 imposing three-year-olds nominated for the 5,000 Providence Stakes, to be run at Narragansett Park, July 12. Foremost of the four stakes to be run at Narragansetts 24-day summer meeting, which opens Monday, the Providence may have an important bearing upon this seasons three-year-old championship. In addition to Blue Man, who is now the foremost contender for the championship, the rich mile and a furlong event has attracted Max Kahlbaums Jampol, second in the Preakness and winner of the Preakness Prep, and Isidor Biebers King Jolie, winner of the Jersey Stakes, second in the Yankee and fourth in the Belmont. Both Blue Man and Jampol have beaten One Count, the Belmont winner. Among the other Providence nominees are a host of three-year-olds, which might well give all the top title contenders serious contention. The Providence is an allowance stake with the weights going up or down from 120 pounds, depending upon the record of each horse entered. Because of his great accomplishments this season, Blue Man will get 126 pounds. Racing secretary Ty Shea said today that owner Abbott has assured him that the Blue Swords colt will run. in the Providence. He has been carrying 126 pounds regularly in other three-year-old races this season. With a total of 22 two-year-olds named, the ,500 Narrangansett Nursery Stakes heads the list of nominations announced today by Shea. This is a five and one-half furlongs sprint for juveniles. It is also an allowance stake and will be. run July 19, The first stake on the program, the ,500 King Philip Handicap, drew 20 nominations. This is at a mile and a sixteenth for three-year-olds and up, and will be run July 5. The 0,000 added Governors Handicap, to be run on July 26, the closing day, drew 21 horses. This is at a mile and a furlong for three-year-olds and upward.
