The McCarran-Walter bill to revise and codify the nations hodge-podge immigration laws was written into law today over President Trumans veto. Prepare for Red Riots VIENNA, Austria, June 27. The government alerted more than 3,000 policemen and 400 detectives today to break up threatened Communist riots when Secretary of State Dean Acheson arrives Sunday. "Any Communist attempt to create disturbances during Mr. Achesons visit will be broken by force," it was announced. Auto Layoffs Predicted PITTSBURGH, Pa., June 27. Three to five week layoffs for as many as 700,000 automotive workers in the next two months were predicted today as a result of the strike of CIO United Steelworkers. Restrictions on West German Visits BERLIN, Germany, June 27. Communist East Germany put restrictions today on overnight visits by West Germans to the Soviet sector of Berlin. Economic Controls Legislation Appeal WASHINGTON, D. C, June 27. An administration source said today President Truman may make another, last-minute appeal to Congress to save his riddled economic controls legislation.
