D. Christmas; bred by W. H. Ballenger. WENT TO POST 6:39. OFF AT 6:39 EASTERN STANDARD TIME Start good from stall gate. Won handily; second and third driving. FIXED STAR lacked early speed, but gradually worked way forward after the initial quarter mile; moved into command when settled in the stretch and drew clear under mild urging. JUBILEE GEM, outrun to the stretch, finished fast under punishment, but could not get to the winner. SWEET REWARD, reserved to the stretch, was forced wide at the final turn and then closed gamely when straightened for the drive. MINNESINGER raced well for three-quarters mile, then faltered. NOSTALGIC saved ground throughout, but failed to rally for the drive. PERFIDY went to the front early, made the pace until inside the stretch, then weakened. BELLANOCH had a rough race. SLAMMURING began slowly. HAPPY LEE tired after displaying early speed. TETRAGINA could not keep up. STROLLING BALL engaged PERFIDY for a half mile, then quit.
