Hueso Qualifies For Jersey Stakes Takes Trial Event by Five Lengths Over Better Goods; Favored By Zeus Runs Third By WILLIAM C. PHILLIPS Staff Correspondent GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 5. — Robert P. Levys Hueso very nicely qualified for his engagement in this coming Saturdays 0,000 added Jersey Stakes when he this afternoon handily accounted for the mile and a sixteenth Jersey. Trial by five lengths. According to his Philadelphia owner, the clean-limbed son of Roman — Blois, by Man o War was prep-ping for the mile and a furlong Jersey Stakes today, and a decision whether to start him in the Preakness on May 23 will depend upon the result of the local fixture. If Hueso comes through satisfactorily, Levy will have to rush a supplementary ,500 starting fee for the Preakness, which closes late nominations at 12 midnight, Saturday, May 9. The track was muddy for the Jersey Trial, and jockey Joe Culmone had Hueso racing next to the pace until the stretch bend, where he handily drew away from the field despite drifting wide. Boncrist Farms Better Goods loomed a momentary threat entering the stretch, and, although not up to the task, he finished three and one-half lengths in front of Mrs. Edward Laskers By Zeus, who in turn was a nose before F.
