— . Ca jac Seeks Repeat Win at Sportsmans Has Jackie Van as Running Mate in Meeting Albemarle, Hedgebill and Four Others SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 5.— Marion H. VanBergs Cajac, who is generally regarded as just about the best runner to see action at this meeting, will try for his second success of the year in the Amvets Purse here tomorrow. Cajac, beaten first time out here, but clever winner in his last start, will race as an entry with Jackie Van, and the pair will have as opposition Albemarle, owned by William Hal Bishop; Our Polly and Will You Dance, both owned by R. Lowe; John Beals Hidgebill; Laughing Fox. owned by J. and G. Hejna. and Cross Ring, who will represent Merle Mitchell. Of the horses having started at the meeting. Albemarle may provide the most contention for Cajac. The four-year-old and his running mate, Tattenham, were odds-on favorites in the Midwestern Purse here last Saturday, and Albemarle finished third. Previous to that he has scored twice in succession, winning the Sun Briar Purse during the first week of the meeting and coming back three days later to take the Chance Play Purse. Hedgebill Rated Threat Hedgebill is another to be "reckoned with" in tomorrows race. It was this filly who won the race in which Cajac was unplaced in his first outing of the season. Hedgebill took the five-furlong dash by four lengths from Grassfire, with Illstay third. That was the fourth win of the year for Hedgebill, she having clicked once at New Orleans and twice at Lincoln Downs prior to being sent to this track. As for the Lowe pair, Our Folly defeated a field of ,500 claiming horses here the second day of the meeting, while Will You Dance last went postward at Hot Springs, where she was second in a ,000 claiming event. Will You Dance failed to win last year and is still a maiden this season. Cross Ring started off this meeting in good form when he finished first in the five-furlong Top Flight Purse on opening day. He was later unplaced in the Sun Briar Purse, won by Albemarle. Laughging Fox was out of the money in the race won by Hedgebill, and Jackie Van could do no better than be fifth in her lone start here. The secondary feature on the nine-race program is the sixth race, the Amvet Purse, for ,500 at seven furlongs. Heading the list for the sixth will be M. A. and Roy Saffirs Dr. Ole Nelson. The others in the race are Marion H. VanBergs entry of Fine Fiddle and Vantage, William Hal Bishops Grass Fire, John H. Nails Seventh Sun, O. and A. Spitzers Nikoh Baby, Mrs. Vera Smiths Etelka, Alice Likins Royals Last, and Grace Kosibas Slipper Satin. The fifth race, called the "Black Onyx," will be a route affair at one and one-sixteenth miles, which attracted the following routers: Count Easter, Shady Tune. Fiery Chief, Streamliner, By Gone Days, Knight-At-Arms, Leestown, and Queen Apache.
