PLASTERED broke alertly, was kept within striking distance of the pace, rallied under pressure, bore in slightly, was straightened and outfinished FIGHTING LOW. The latter assumed command soon after the start, increased his advantage before a half mile, shortened stride, saved ground and held on stubbornly. WAR TORO finished with a belated rush from off the pace. DIRECT MISTER, f orwardly placed, failed to make up. ground when put to pressure. STEERSMAN went evenly. KERRYTZA had no mishap. BINKY B. drew clear at once, maintained the advantage to the stretch, drifted out and prevailed over SCIPIO. The latter came through along the inside to loom as "a threat and appeared to hang. CALAMUS closed stoutly from off the pace. GUNNING ISLAND bettered late position along the inside. TABARINA, sore going in post parade, broke alertly, dropped back and rallied mildly under late urging. LENITY was in close quarters. GATICA-LINDA drove up along the inside to force the pace for a half mile and weakened. TIDEHEAD lost ground on the final turn. OXLIN was unable to keep up. RIFF SONG, steadied when unable to race with the pace, responded willingly in the final furlong and was along to overtake VALPAM in the final yards. VALPAM sprinted to a comfortable lead soon after the start, saved ground throughout and shortened stride steadily. PIP PIP rallied in the late stages and closed willingly. UNIZANO closed with a belated rush off the pace. GOOD COUNSEL broke sluggishly, worked his way up along the inside but was never a serious factor. OUR JAN dropped back at the start and went evenly thereafter. FINCHHAVEN showed nothing.. CLOSING NIGHT was outrun. HANKIE showed brief speed and stopped. PETES MAC was outdistanced. ABSTRACT, close up from the start, moved between horses " to assume, the lead under stout restraint, gained the inside after drawing clear and won without any pressure. PHANTOM LUCK, a forward factor, maintained his position under constant pressure. JAKABLOM rallied mildly when put to a drive, was unable to reach the leader and faltered IRISH PRINCE drew clear soon after the start, gave way before a half mile and went evenly thereafter. SET CABLE opened a clear lead at once, increased the advantage before entering the stretch, withstood a sustained drive until the final yards, then faltered. ME PERFECT was unable to reach the top pair while rallying in the late stages. BULLETS broke alertly, gave way and remained close up for three furlongs, then weakened. QUEENSWARE was close up on the outside and finished well despite the rider losing his irons near the end. SPEED MAKER was outrun. Overweight Set Cable, 2 pounds.
