Valdes, Hurricane Jackson To Swap Punches July 21 NEW YORK, N. Y., June 3 UP . Nino Valdes, heavyweight champion of Cuba, and Tommy "Hurricane" Jackson of Rockaway Beach, N. Y., were signed today for a 10-round match at Madison Square Garden, July 21. Jack-son, who achieved television popularity by three upset victories at Eastern Parkway Arena in Brooklyn, knocked out Charley Norkus. of Bayonne, N. J., in the fifth round at the Garden last Friday night. Valdes last week knocked out Belgian champion Karel Sys in the fourth round at Brussels. He has won eight straight bouts.
