Lausse and Rindone Battle Tonight Rate Argentinian 17 to 5 Favorite Eduardo After Seventeenth Straight in Television Bout At Madison Square Garden By JACK CUDDY United Press Sports Writer NEW YORK, N. Y., June 3. Slugger Eduardo "KO" Lausse of Argentina seeks .his 1.7th straight victory and makes his Madison Square Garden debut Friday night in a TV-radio 10 -rounder with middleweight Joe Rindone of Boston. The awkward but awesome ex-shoemaker from Buenos Aires was favored at 17-5 today because he had achieved 14 knockouts in his 16 consecutive wins. And balding Rindone was stopped six times in his jcareer. Left-hooker Lausse hasnt been beaten since September, 1952, when he lost a decision to welterweight champion Kid Gavi-lan. His total record is 48-5-2, including 39 knockouts. He was never stopped. Eduardo, 26, registered three victories this year. He knocked out Florindo Mel-lone, outpointed Jesse Turner and, in his last bout, belted out Chico Varona with one left hook in the seventh round at St. , Nicholas Arena on May 7. Plans to Weigh About 158 Charley Johnston, manager of the Argentine dynamiter, hopes an impressive victory over Rindone will boost Eduardo into a bout with a ranking contender. Lausse, ex -Argentine welterweight, planned to scale about 158 pounds to Joes probable 162. Twenty-eight-year-old Rindone is a seasoned club -fighter who won all four boujts in 1953 but had hard luck in three bouts this year. In 1953, he outpointed Freddy Lott, Jackie Keough, Pierre Langlois and knocked out Joey DeJohn in the second round. But this year the former baker was stopped by middleweight champion Bobo Olson, held to a draw by Govan Small and defeated on a very unpopular decision by Bobby Dykes. His total record is 33-12-4, including 14 kayoes. He was stopped six times. Rindone has more speed and much more ring savvy than Lausse. He has a good chance to win if he can last the distance, But the odds-makers doubt he can last.
