Swierczak Signs With Lions DETROIT, Mich., June 3 UP. The Detroit Lions announced today they have signed Jim Swierczak of Marshall College for the 1954 season. Swierczak, who was the Lions thirteenth draft choice, played offensive end and defensive halfback for Marshall for three years. Coach Buddy Parker said Swierczak will be one of the candidates tried out to replaceYale Lary, ace defensive back who has been called into the Army. Swierczak is the thirty-fifth Lion to come to terms for 1954.
