Cardinals Pen Two Veteran Linemen for 1954 Season End Tom Bienemann and guard Dave Suminski, both veterans, have signed their 1954 Chicago Cardinals contracts, managing director Walter Wolfner announced today. Bienemann, who for the past two years has been one of the National Football Leagues outstanding defensive ends, is starting his fourth year with the Cards. In 1950, as a senior at Drake U., he was second in the nation as a pass receiver, and over a three-year period caught 117 passes for a total of 1,749 yards. Bienemann is six-three, weighs 225 and is 26 years old. He is a native of Kenosha, Wis., where he, along with his father-in-law, own and operate a rug cleaning business. Suminski, a native of Ashland, Wis., was signed as a free agent last year. He was an All-America choice by the United Press and was an almost unanimous Big Ten pick while playing tackle and guard at U. of Wisconsin in 1952. Cards head coach Joe Stydahar used him as a starting guard on offense in the last five games of the 1953 season. He weighs 230 and is 23 years old.
