Endon Invading Detroit For Livonia Engagement VanBerg Colt to Face Aces Wired And Hangover in Saturdays Stake By DON FAIR Staf Correspondent DETROIT RACE COURSE? Livonia, Mich., June 3. Marion H. VanBerg, highly-successful Columbus, Nebraska, horseman, announced here this morning that his fleet Endon, a son of Challedon and Hi Chris, is due momentarily from .Lincoln Fields to fill a Saturday engagement in the 0,000 Livonia Stakes, six-furlong allowance sprint for three-year-olds. The VanBerg stable colt, victorious in the Peabody Prep Purse at one mile and one-sixteenth and third in the Peabody Memorial, returns to the Motor City to put a "three-one-five" record on the line for his rivals to shoot at in the week-end feature. No less than 26 second-year racers are eligible for the Saturday headline attraction and Endon will have to turn in a "big race" to notch another victory in his already impressive 1954 campaign. Hangover was shipped to Michigan this year after posting four victories in Florida over high class opposition and he is expected to "play a role in the Livonia. Brought along steadily by trainer Bobby Curran after being rested since his arrival from New Jersey, Hangover trained impressively and stepped three-quarters mile in 1:14 handily last Monday morning. The latter filly, however, was sharp enough here last year to earn major honors in the " Governors Stakes and chalk up two other triumphs while engaging the best of her age division. Field of Twelve Likely Present indications point to a field of at least a dozen three-year-olds for the Saturday stake and interest has reached a rather high pitch in the Livonia. Principal offering on the Friday program is the Adrian Eagles Purse at three-, quarters mile for three-year-olds. A dozen from that age division are entered and Boam Stables Peggy D., a fair class victress here earlier in the current meeting, is expected to rule a slight choice over her rivals. Jockey Forrest Kaelin will pilot the Boam Stable miss in the Adrian Eagles and her chief opposition probably will be provided by the G and G Stable pair, Diamond Mine and Big Heart; C. C. Koltes Vyr, H. P. Morancys Miss Knobview, and Mrs. Henry C. Wolfes Touchdown, scheduled to " make his local debut in the Friday attraction. One of the better supporting events on the card is the five furlongs fourth, which matches 13 two-year-olds, representing 11 interests. James Paddocks Im Expectin, who will have the saddle services of jockey Robert Lee Baird, probably will go to the post favored in the juvenile dash. Charles Rufi is to be represented by Squad Car and Cherry Bull, while trainer E. E. Russell will saddle an entry, Leo Edwards Gay Joy and Mrs. S. H. Zachars homebred Foot Secret. Post time Friday will be at the regular week-day hour, 3:45 pjn., and the Saturday sport, featuring the Livonia Stakes, is to start promptly at 2:00 p.m.
