THANE OF FIFE joined the leader soon after .the start, wrested command in the early stretch and steadily increased his advantage. HEROS REWARD was a factor from the start despite Jugging in under pressure. FALL CREEK attempted to run off during the post parade and closed with good energy in the running. CRIBBAGE lacked the needed rally. ONE TEAR again displayed speed to set the pace, then tired. FAIR DEALER could not keep pace, nor could SPOT RESISTANT. ELJAKA was rated in front-to the stretch, then drew clear when roused but was no match for the winner. NOBLE SUN rallied in the late? stages. EVENING SONG made up considerable ground after being in a precarious position leaving the backstretch. PANTATA weakened after a half mile. SPECIAL FLEET raced for the lead to the stretch and quit. LUCKEY PETE was in front to save ground on the turn but could not keep pace. LARANS late rally was insufficient. BIG LEAGUER failed to menace the-,leaders. The latter closed with good energy after being slow to respond. BELMONT BREEZE was rated while holding a narrow advantage, drew clear when roused through the stretch, then gave way. OLD GLENDALE was a factor and weakened slightly. ASTUTE possessed speed along the inside and weakened. DAVARTY broke tardily, trailed throughout and bolted entering the stretch. OUR EMBLEM, under restraint while within striking distance, reached the leaders from the outside nearing the stretch and responded well for a narrow victory. SRESILIENT held a commanding lead to the final turn, held on gamely when challenged and just failed to last. ABBEZAC was taken up when in close quarters near the half mile pole, remained between horses to drive through and reach the leader, then lacked the needed late spurt. TIP II. weakened in the drive. SIR STAKE was sent to the-front at once, set the pace under good rating and held BEKNIGHTED safe. The latter, badly outrun early, moved boldly from the final turn and lasted over GRO-UP. The latter trailed after being, shuffled back early, raced extremely wide and closed with a rush. QUICK MISSION held a favorable position, but was not good enough. ACHILLES gave way after pressing the pace. PRIVATEER was through early.
