Five Face Begbrra In Ballot Handicap All At Once Seeks Fourth Belmont Win While Getting Weight From Rand Router BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 3. The Ballot Handicap, named for James R. Keenes winner of the 1908 Suburban, is the feature attraction at Belmont Friday. A field of six has been named for this ,500 mile and a sixteenth, headed by Frank C. Rand, Jr.s Begorra with 122 pounds. Charley Reynolds charge is required to concede from eight to 16 pounds to. his five rivals, but is sure of considerable support in his present good form. Last out, Begorra failed by a head in an attempt to catch J. W. Nizleks much-improved All At Once in a mile race here. All At Once got in that event with 108 pounds and picks up another three, while the extra sixteenth is not expected to help. Since that event, All At Once came back to score a front-running victory in a sprint while in to be claimed for 2,500. Charley OBrien will ride Begorra, while Sidney Cole, who fits him well, wilL pilot All .At Once. Some Support for Matagorda There will probably be some support for Joe W. Browns Matagorda, who gets in here with 114 pounds and is back where he belongs after a fruitless venture in the Suburban on Monday. The 1953 Louisiana Derby winner showed nothing in the holiday fixture but finished well to be a passable second to Golden Gloves in his previous start at Fridays distance and drops eight pounds from that race. Laudy Lawrences Beau Gar, who finished a neck behind Matagorda in that race, is the lightweight of the field with 106 pounds, including George Glassner. No rider has been named for Matagorda as yet. Beau Gar gets a pound less from Matagorda than he did in his last start, but set a rapid pace in what was his first attempt at a route. The fashionably bred son of Count Fleet Bellesoeur has trained well since that race and is eligible to show enough improvement to score a minor upset. Mrs. Phil Biebers Conty Bay and Saga Stables Flaunt, 108 pounds each, complete this small but well-matched field. Conty Bay had no takers while carrying a ,000 claiming tag last out, but won his race with considerable authority, getting a mile in an acceptable 1:37. Ted Atkinson will again be in the irons. Flaunt, who will be ridden by Hedley Woodhouse, finished far back of Begorra in his last outing and has showed little this spring, but would be dangerous on his best form. The son of Challenge Me has run his best races at Aqueduct, which opens its meeting on June 14.
