My Love 1948 Epsom Derby Winner, Sold ins Argentina BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, June 3 Reuters. My Love, who won the 1948 Epsom Derby for the Aga Khan, fetched 1,850,000 pesos at the bloodstock sales here yesterday. My Love, now a nine-year-old stallion, was among the group of 16 sires and mares put up for sale. They were recently purchased in Britain and France by the Argentine government in accordance with a five-year plan to improve the local breed. Three other sires each fetched over 1,000,000 pesos Argur, by Djebel, out of Bouillabaise; Aristophanes, by Hyperion., out of Commotion, and Cyrus the Great, by Tehran, out of Sansonnet. Altogether eight sires fetched 9,770,000. --k The days surprise was the bulk purchase by Senor Jorge Antonio, president of Mercedes-Benz in Argentina, of all nine mares offered. The mares, including six in foal, fetched 2,860,000 pesos.
