iSickles Image Among Rose Leaves Probables Filly and Mare Stake Will Be Renewed at Detroit Saturday DETROIT RACE COURSE, Livonia Mich., June 15. The 0,000 Rose Leaves Stakes, six furlongs allowance event for fillies and mares, three-year-olds and up, will have its fifth running here Saturday and present indications point to a field of at least 10 starters. The Rose Leaves, one of the more popular Motor City events, had its inaugural at the old Fair Grounds track in 1949 when Our Request was the winner. Subsequent renewals fell to Even Step, Sweet Patootie and Lilly Valenti. Clarence Hartwicks great racemare, Sickles Image, who is working splendidly at the local oval, probably will go to the post in the stake and she is the early favorite for the sprint. Sickles Image hasnt been under silks thus far this year and should she accept her Rose Leaves engagement, she probably will be ridden by her regular pilot, Billy Fisk. Others classed as starters include Ivan D. Peats speedy mare, Sun Tan Gal, who has shown flashes of top form this year; Tamarack Stables Sharbot, a visitor to the winners ring during the current meeting; and John Barry Ryans Slippy, who shipped here from the East for ihe Rose Leaves. Also G. Y. Bookers hard-hitting Mad Hare, L. t. Hollandsworths Eternal Frolic, McDermott and Wellmans Task Fleet, and Marion H. VanBergs Foxie Jeanie. Frankie Sanders, who has Freeman Keyes Reverie Knoll Farm horses quartered at Chicago, sent word to racing secretary-, handicapper Charles J. McLennan that he may send Best Maid and Darling Lady here for the Saturday headliner. George White, who conditions the Mrs. White thoroughbreds, nominated three of his charges for the race: Princess Trace, Nocallula and Trip Lightly. The latter probably will pass the stake as she is but three-year-old but it is quite likely that both Princess Trace and Nocallula, a pair of five-year-old mares, will be under sifts in the week-end feature. r f
