War Doings Gains Handy Score at Delaware Park Takes Measure of Swift Steve In Mile, Sixteenth Headliner By JOE HIRSCH DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 15. Circle M Farms War Doings brought the colors of Mrs. Edward S. Moore home handily in the Seaford Purse today, casually outdistancing Vic Posners Swift Steve in the final furlong for a two and a half-length triumph. The three-year-old son of War Admiral was the choice of some 11,500 fans in attendance and returned .40. Patty Day Stables Lajoie was third, a pair of lengths behind Swift Steve. The triumph was War Doings first of the season after five attempts. His best previous effort had come in the Pimlico Futurity last fall when he placed second behind Errard King, a race incidentally in which Porterhouse sustained a back injury which hampered his training this year. War Doings was out in Leonard Richards Stakes here last Saturday but showed little and finished sixth. Zig Away was the early leader in the mile and a sixteenth event, setting the pace until the half, mile pole when Swift Steve assumed command. The speedy Alsab colt showed the way around, the far turn as Jack Westrope, aboard War Doings, began to move his mount on the outside. The Moore standardbearer drew abreast of Swift Steve with an eighth of a mile remaining and gradually increased his margin without a serious challenge from the runner-up.
