CRUSE Staff Correspondent RIVER DOWNS, California, Ohio, June 15. The new policy of nine races for Wednesdays and Saturdays goes into effect on tomorrows card and the post time will continue to be 2.30 p. m. E. S. T., as it is on other days. The Old Fitzgerald Purse holds the spotlight on the card. For three-year-olds and older horses under allowance conditions, the event has an ,800 purse and a six-furlongs staging. With the latter in mind speed will be the keynote and racing secretary Eugene W. Bury has enticed eight of the more fleet-footed of the sort into the contest. Comprising the group are J. R. Wisemans Le Gaulois, John Madleners Gilded Right, William Wells Grand Cella, H. Jolleys Valley Sprite, E. J. Bolsers Rebounder, H. H. Prices Platter Scout, W. Chapins Gray Battle and Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Duddings Royal Disc. Platter Scout, a five-year-old Platter gelding, made his first start over this course this year a winning one and did so in such a manner that it will be difficult to overlook him in this field. Jockey W. D. Lucas was his pilot and sent him six furlongs over a sloppy track in 1:14 and he was an easy two and one-half lengths the best of Frisse and Jones Storm of Gold, another of the speed contestants on the grounds. That was his first victory of the year and the fourth start. Prior to the winning performance he finished a strong second in a claiming event at Churchill Downs and was beaten but a head. A return to the form he has displayed in his winning efforts and at that course would make him highly dangerous in this group. Grand Cella is another with an impressive group of performances in his background. The Grand Slam gelding has won three this year and in his most recent endeavor finished second to the three-time winner Luciete, which races in the interest of Simmons and Finn. While beaten a length and one -quarter by Luciete in the Welcome Purse on opening day the strip was very heavy and a normal track is more to his liking. If the sun continues to shine as brightly as it has this morning for the rest of the day this track should be nearly fast by the time for this race tomorrow and he could be the one to fear.
