. First Aid Tops Field of Eight In Omnibus at Monmouth Park Closed Door, Resilient and i Mr. Paradise Compete With Versatile Brookmeade Racer By WILLIAM C. PHILLIPS Staff Correspondent MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J., June 15. The Omnibus Handicap, an event that stirred interest in the racing world when staged at the old Monmouth Park course during the years of 1882 through 1892, tomorrow is being presented here for its eighth modern renewal. The original highweights are absent but the starters are evenly matched. Two of the supporting sprints add to the overall interest in the program. Eight routers comprise the field for this edition of the Omnibus, and they will be participating for 5,000 added money at a distance of one mile and a furlong. Brookmeade Stables First Aid inherited the honor post of 113 pounds, and he is asked to concede one pound to Jaclyn Stables Closed Door, who captured the Omnibus laurels last year. The others receive from four to seven pounds, and they include Killian Farms Resilient. H. B. Cohens Buck n Gee, Kilkare Farms Necktie, Boncrist Farms Better Goods and Mrs. Ada L. Rices Mr. Paradise. Brookfield Sends Out Entry J. W. Rodgers Due de Fer, whose sensational form as a two-year-old is still to be brightly remembered, is the probable favorite in the sprint preceding the Omnibus. He will have keen rivarly from the Brook-field Farm entry of I Appeal and Immense, East Acres Bronze Warrior, A. H. Smiths By Jeepers, T. A. Sears Nirgal Lad, and W. E. Browns Royal Battle. The class contained in this band could be an object of envy for many stakes events, while the fourth race at six furlongs also contains ! such shifty performers as Ram o War, Landseair, Influence and I Salute, among others. The two sprint races promise some sparkling competition, but they will add to, rather than detract from, the glory of the Omnibus. The Brookmeades First Aid has been accorded respect by horsemen and fans alike since he returned one of the longest prices of the New York season as an upset winner of last years Saranac Handicap, and he has been holding excellent form during his current campaign. The four-year-old Bernborough gelding J. J. AM I EL His Mr. Turf carried off the honors in the Gravesend Classified Handicap at Aqueduct. completed his 1953 tenure with five victories and earnings of 1,062. His record this year is highlighted by a victory in the Southern Maryland Handicap at Bowie, and his last two races, in which he finished second. The great White Skies held him by just a half length as he closed with a late rush in the Roseben Handicap at Belmont Park three weeks ago, and at Delaware Park he gave way grudgingly to be beaten a neck by the sharp performing Cold Command in the Brandywine Handicap. Nick Shuk, who rode him in this latter event, will be in the saddle tomorrow. Closed Door, a five-year-old Shut Out horse, captured his lone triumph of the season in the Omnibus last summer
