Nardico, Andrews Close Drills for Stadium Battle TomorrowsVictorMayGet Maxim; Thomas, Holman in Semi-Windup Danny Nardico, the Tampa Terror, and Paul Andrews, Buffalos Bopper, have concluded their heavy drills for. Wednesday nights Chicago Stadium lO-rounder. Nardico and Andrews are aiming at a chance to take over Archie Moores light-heavyweight championship. The winner of Wednesday nights fight probably will be matched with Joey Maxim, who recently scored an upset victory over the sensational young Floyd Patterson. The two battlers used the Midwest Gym as their headquarters. Andrews, with a record 23 out of 26 fights, has shown more promise than any other youngster in his division. The defeat of Patterson gives him sole claim to the "rookie" version of -the 175-pound division. Meanwhile, his recent fight with Harold Johnson, the No. 1 contender, makes it possible that he will go all the way in the division. However, Nardico is a devastating puncher who could Welt Andrews out, if the youngster gets careless. Danny, an ex- Marine hero with a Silver Star and Purple Heart, is rated seventh in the division. Of his 48 victories, 34 have been knockouts. Andrews, a boxer-puncher combination,-has only 13 knockouts in his 23 wins. Truman Gibson, secretary of the IBC, said that the stadium will be air-cooled for Wednesdays fight. "It will be comfortable for everyone in the stadium," Gibson explained. "The weather wont matter." The eight-round semi-windup will be between Benny Thomas and Johnny Holman, Chicago heavyweights. Thomas has an impressive record in recent months locally, and Holman is one of the top Chicago sluggers. A knockout by either man is expected. A six-rounder will pit Jo* Leudansky of Chicago against Red Elby of Toledo at 165 pounds. Elby is the only fighter to beat Spider Webb as a" pro before he went into service. * - « .
