Maine Chance Is Liberal Nominator Has 51 in Stakes At Arlington Park Six Named for Primer on Thursday; Jet Action to Carry Colors in Wright ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., June 21.— With Thursdays opening of Arlington Parks twenty-eighth season only 72 hours away, hundreds of thoroughbreds are arriving in the stable area, and nominations to rich added-money stakes are pouring in daily. Racing secretary Frederick G. "Pat" Farrell revealed today that 51 nominations alone were received from Mrs. Elizabeth Arden Grahams Maine Chance Farm. That includes horses kept eligible for Arlingtons four big future stakes. Maine Chance was the leading nominator to Thursdays opening-day Primer Stakes with six well-bred two-year-olds. The 5,000-added juvenile event set a record for opening-day stakes when 55 were named. The Primer is a five and one-half furlong sprint. Mrs. Graham also has named one of her prize three-year-olds, Jet Action, for Saturdays 5,000-added Warren Wright Memorial. In that race the Jet Pilot — Busher colt will go against other three-year-olds in a seven-furlong affair. Jet Action, recent Withers Stakes winner, is also tabbed for three other features, the 55,000 Arlington Classic, July 17; the 60,000 Arlington Handicap on the grass, and the "Laurance Armour Memorial Handicap. Others Named for Features Among other Maine Chance stars named for stakes are Classic, Black Metal and Model Busher; Arlington Handicap, Black Metal and Smart Apple; Myrtlewood Handicap, Flight Cloud and Smart Apple; Stars and Stripes Cgrass , Flight Cloud and Laurance Armour, Flight Cloud. Black Metals top effort this year was a good second in the Flamingo at Hialeah. In the filly and mare class, Maine Chance has three highly -regarded representatives, Fascinator, Incidentally and Divine Actress. All three are named for the Cleopatra and Modesty handicaps and are probable candidates for the 0,000 Arlington Matron, July 28. Fascinator, who showed much promise as a two-year-old, accounted for Hialeahs Columbiana Handicap and the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs this spring. In the latter race she outlasted Hasty House Farms Queen Hopeful at a mile and one-sixteenth to win by a length. Another formidable distaff runner, Incidentally, ran third in" the Prioress Stakes ! at Jamaica. Last year, the Mr. Busher — J Danise M. filly earned 4,950, part of which came from three stakes wins. Besides the Primer, Maine Chance is heavily represented in other juvenile events. There are five fillies in the Polly-anna Stakes and six in -the 05,000 Arlington Lassie, while the 50,000 Arlington Futurity and Hyde Park Stakes each have j seven. MRS. ELIZABETH N. GRAHAM — Her Maine Chance Farm string has made 51 nominations- for Arlington- Park stakes.
