J., June 21.— Coming from off the pace, L. Bar-bieris My Truly Fair closed rapidly to win the featured Union County Purse this sunny afternoon before a crowd estimated at 12,650 and then had to withstand a foul claim. Scoring at the direct expense of the favorite, the recent invader from New England led B. C. Benter Jr.s Whence by half a length. Three-quarters of a length back, in third place, was Puckety Farms Faga-La. Immediately after the race, Roger Le-Blanc, who rode Faga-La, claimed a foul against. Walter Blum, on My Truly Fair, but, after examining the pictures of-the race, the stewards allowed the suit to stand. My Truly Fair paid and covered the mile .and a sixteenth in 1:45. The winner, a four-year-old daughter of Alsab — My Hattie,, was making her seventh start of the year and winning her first race. ,Her best previous effort was a third here last week. Race Neck and Neck Whence and Agitator n. broke fastest at the start, with the pair going around the turn neck and neck. Down the backstretch Whence shook off Agitator n. and drew into the lead. My Truly Fair trailed the early pace and then made her move on the turn. Moving up fast, she came to the outside and soon passed all but Whence. Coming into the stretch Blum roused his mount and she responded, catching Whence above the sixteenth pole and drawing out under urging. Faga-La, who was running third most of the way, finished in that position. LeBlanc claimed that My Truly Fair bothered him at the three-eighths pole, but the pictures failed to substantiate his claim and the claim was disallowed.
