Limit Field to Contest River Downs1 Best Race Square Cut Favored to Repeat Winning Effort of Last Friday By W. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent RIVER DOWNS, California, Ohio, June 21. — River Downs goes into the sixteenth day of this 44-day meeting with Tuesdays eight-race program. Although this is platers day, this does not apparently take any of the interest away from the races and the events are well varied in distance and caliber of plater. The best race on the card is the Roes-sler Brothers, a six-furlong dash for four-year-ofds and older horses which are valued at ,000. The maximum starting field of 12, plus three. on the "also eligibles," assures a full group going postward and once again it is an arduous task to concentrate the interest on one horse. However, M. E. Yeltons Square Cut, the most recent winner, turned in an impressive two-length victory here last Friday. The event was a six-furlong test for the same age group and, under the able direction of jockey W. D. Lucas, this Jack High filly reached the wire a good two and one-half lengths in front of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Maxwells Blue Errard, which is again to match strides. The timef or the affair was 1:12%, one of the best to be hung up at the meeting and, if the track continues to respond to the treatment and the dry weather remains, this mark will very probably be lowered again in this race. Lucas has tentatively been named to handle Square Cut and""Licata will undoubtedly be iri the saddle on Blue Errard. The interest in this race could be shared by this pair. Others to match strides include R. Witt-wers Sedulous, E. C. Jeff ers and K. Scotts Lady Pomp, R. J; Wintergersts Sly Wink, C. W. Freemans Grand Pose, Mrs. E; Julians Fiddlin Mac, G. Striblings Pickens, J. V. Akers Top Attraction, M. G. Harris Marcy N., L. M. Quills Wellblessed, M. M. Luiz Good Egg, S. E. Crews Cyds Baby, Mrs. J. Bronnenbergs Joellen and Mrs. Marie Trussos Oh Linda.
