NORMAS FIRST went into a good lead soon after the start and was not in danger after having widened her margin nearing the stretch turn. ANTEBABE was taken up sharply when in close quarters on the inside after leaving the backstretch, then came again to finish well next to the rail. EDUCT was never too far from the pace and closed with good courage. BLACK POPPY displayed good early foot and held on well. MISS NIGHT, well up in the stretch, took a short lead an eighth out, then weakened. PERNIE LEE was badly outrun all the way. BELDIC raced close up from the start while saving ground and,, continuing gamely on the inside through the stretch, outfinished ETHERIDGE. The latter moved up on the outside in the stretch and got to the front a sixteenth out, but hung in the final drive. PASTORAL set the pace under restraint, but was unable to draw out when ready and weakened near the finish. WITTED was always well up. The others were outpaced. Overweiqht Teddys Review, 3 pounds. INTELLIGENT set the pace and held on exceptionally well in the final drive. SPRINGLIKE, well up from the start, also held on with good courage. ETERNAL FROLIC responded well when called upon and finished with good courage but was no match for the winner. NO RETURN drey away from the field after going a quarter and saved ground in the stretch, but weakened near the. end. KING made up some ground to finish well. SNORKEL was hard held while following DIRECT NORTH in the first quarter and was still under restraint when he went to the front at the half way mark, then continued gamely through the last furlong after being headed and held IM FRED in the drive to win narrowly. The latter made a timely move in the stretch and, going strongly to the end, barely missed. SAUCY PLAY, an early trailer, rushed up on the ouside on the stretch turn and took command a furlong out, but had nothing left for the final drive. KING CHARLES was racing fairly well at the end.
