PERISTALSIS broke tardily, was steadied after running up to horses, then came between rivals in the stretch drive and was up to best ST0PANG0. The latter :asly raced into a long lead after the start, tried to bolt and had to be taken in hand on the final turn, then leld on fairly well, finishing near the middle of the track. VERA CALHOUN closed a gap in the last quarter njle. DUAL STREAK lugged in through the stretch. POWER MASTER faltered. WARMED OVER, lightly urged to be within striking distance, was forced tb circle wide coming around horses on the stretch turn, but quickly wrested command and gamely withstood THE FIXER. The latter broke tardily, found room rushing into contention and made a bold challenge entering the stretch, then seemed to hang momentarily, but fought it out gamely at the end. STRIKING HOUR, urged along lacking speed, saved ground reaching contention on the stretch turn and hung. HANWAR bore out on the stretch turn, lacked clear racing room in the upper stretch, but-finished well despite returning Svr2 slight hsmorrhage. An objection lodged by the rider on HANWAR against WARMED OVER and THE f . .claiming they closed together in front of him, was not allowed. THE POSSE lost ground on the outside, m.V-S5ed- weLL ZUXDER ZEE was orun. ROYAL VIOLA was eased back from horses on the stretch turn. RUTHRED was done after a half mile. SKEETER II was under mild urging from the start, made a mild bid on the final turn, but hung. WHENCE could not stay with the earlv pace and tired.
