j i Summer Ball Tonight At Post and Paddock Chicago Boys Clubs to Benefit From Social Affair at Arlington . ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 17. As a gala prelude to Arlington Parks opening-day festivities Monday, Chicago society will turn out en masse Saturday night for the annual Summer Ball at the fashionable Post and Paddock Club. - Each year the Summer Ball, Chicagos peak social function and benefit for the Chicago Boys Clubs, introduces thoroughbred racing and summer styles to the famed northwest suburban course. This fifth annual Summer Ball, originated by Mrs. Leonard. Florsheim, will be the most beautiful, and it is hoped, the biggest financial success of them all. Sponsored by the United Airlines, whose colors are the national Red, White and Blue, an elaborate decor has been worked out. The red carpet that was used by the airlines for its first Hollywood flight, will stretch from the Post and Paddock doorway to the arriving cars. Mrs. Max Pray, decorations chairman and designer of the decor for the affair, has been ably assisted by Mrs. Shepherd M. Roberts, and the two put in many hours of work to make the Post and Paddock its glamorous best for the occasion. In the middle1 room of the Post and Paddock between the entrance lounge and the lower dining room "iron" jockeys are stationed before the mirrored columns. The jockeys are painted respectively in the devils red and -blue colors of Mrs. Gene Markeys Calumet; Farm, the green and white of Valley View Farm and the neon red and white of Mrs. Ada L. Rices Dan-ada Farm. Miniature United Airlines planes and candles trimmed with red carnations will ornament the cocktail tables for the occasion. The womans board of the Chicago Boys Clubs that sponsors this affair has Mrs. Charles M. Kittle as its honorary chairman. Mrs. Barnes Donnelley is president. Vice-presidents are Mrs. Leigh Block, Mrs. Richard A. Snideman, and Mrs. Kimball Salisbury. Secretaries are Mrs. John Simpson and Mrs. James Hayes. Mrs. Leonard Florsheim is treasurer. But this includes everything cocktails, hors d oeuvre, a dinner featuring vintage wines and prime roast beef. The co-ordinated Arlington -Washington Park race tracks are among the generous sponsors.
