Arlington Set for Monday Inaugural Primer Headlines Opening Program Tiger Wander to Seek Stake; Cleopatra and Armour Also Carded First Week of Meet ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, m., June i7. The second phase of the Balmoral-Arlington-Washington coordinated season begins at Arlington Park where the twenty-ninth annual meeting gets under way on Monday. Heading the inaugural program of the 36-day meeting will be the thirteenth running of the 5,000 added Primer Stakes at five and one-half furlongs for three-year-olds. Two other stakes will be run opening week, the 0,000 added Cleopatra for three-year-old fillies on Wednesday, and the 5,000 added Laurance Armour Memorial Handicap at a mile and a. furlong for three-year-olds and upward on Saturday. Programmed on the northwest suburban tracks lucrative program are 15 stakes, designed by executive director Benjamin F. Lindheimer to lure the ranking contenders of all thoroughbred divisions. Sandwiched this year between Balmorals inaugural session and the regular Washington Park meeting, which gets under way August 1, Arlington again will highlight its meeting with such time-honored features as the 0,000 Stars and Stripes Handicap, 0,000 Equipoise Mile, 60,000 Arlington Handicap, and the 60,000 Arlington Classic, which is expected to lure Belair Studs sophomore sensation, Nashua, for his Chicago debut on July 16. Racing secretary Frederick G. "Pat" Farrell predicts a full field of 12 for Mondays Primer dash, including Balmorals double-stakes winner, Sam E. Wilson, Jr.s Tiger Wander and his rival, Mrs. Joseph Tomlinsons Nasrullah colt, Homepiace. Others considered likely Primer starters include C. F. Morriss Colonel Wilson, William Hal Bishops Skeptical Kid, E. Gay Drakes Swoon Son, winner of a division of the Bashford Manor; J. G. Smiths Mr. Jay Gee, and Hasty House Farms Roman Boss. In Reserve Awaits Cleopatra The Cleopatra is expected to attract a select field of sophomore fillies, including Alberta Ranches In Reserve, winner of the Santa Ynez at Santa Anita; Calumet Farms Miss Arlette, winner of La Centi-nela at Santa Anita; H. H. Mundys Bob-belle, second in Balmorals Coronet contest; and Mrs. Ada L. Rices Nimble Doll, second in the Miss Maryland Stakes at Bowie. Hasty House Farm also has nominated Alspal, while E. M. Anderson and G. C. Olsen have named Mazza for the filly stake. Meanwhile, nominations to the Laurance Armour Memorial Handicap, Pollyanna Stakes and Myrtlewood Handicap, were also announced by Farrell. The Laurance Armour, geared for three-year-olds and upward, has, attracted 21 candidates. Two-year-old fillies will get their first important test in the 5,000 added Pollyanna, five and one-half furlongs dash, slated for decision Monday, June 27. Prominent among the 46 lassies made eligible are the Ada L. Rice stables trio of Pretty Plunger, a double stakes victress; Prize Story and Special Style, both winners of overnight dashes. Clifford Mooers stakes winning Cherry is included on the roster along with her stablemate Birch, another winner. The six-furlong Myrtlewood for horses three years and older will be run Wednesday, June 29. Among 26 horses pointed for this 5,000 added sprint are four Hasty House representatives, Torch of War, Sea O Erin and the imported coupling of Summer Solstice and My Beau. The double Balmoral stakes winner Scent, from the Monaghan string, and Fly Wheel have also been named along with Mooers Traffic Judge and J. W. Ttodgers Due De Fer. Calumets mighty filly, Miz Clementine, queen of California racing last year, was also included.
