Mrs. Leftitia C. Leach Dies in Lexington Home Mother of Derby Publicist; Wife of Famed Veterinarian - LEXINGTON, Ky., June 17. Mrs. Let-titia Cowan Leach, mother of Churchill Downs public relations director George "Brownie" Leach, died here early today. She had been in a critical condition for several weeks, and had been a semi-invalid for the past 10 years. Mrs. Leach, who was 90 years old at the time of her death, was the wife of the late Dr. Maurice M. Leach, who died in 1922. He was a noted thoroughbred pedigree expert and writer, adviser to a number of the countrys most successful breeders, and at one time a contributor to the Daily Racing Form. Mrs. Leach was born in Springfield, 111., but spent practically all her early life in Danville, .Ky., where her great grandfather, Capt. John Cowan, was one of the first settlers. She and her husband moved to Lexington more than 50 years ago. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church at Lexington. In addition to "Brownie" Leach, she is survived by two other sons. Maurice Derby Leach and James Robinson Leach, both of Lexington. Her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Lynn -of Detroit died several years ago. Mrs. Leach also is lurvived by 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 oclock at Christ Church here, followed by burial in the Bellevue Cemetery at Danville. i i i
