High Voltage, pride and joy of Mrs. H. C. Phipps Wheatley Stable, will endeavor to solidify her position at the top of the .three-year-old filly division when she tangles with nine other members of her age-and sex in Saturdays featured 5,000 added Delaware Oaks, first event of the "Distaff Big Three." Should the overnight field of 10 lassies remain intact, this 17th running of the Oaks will be the richest on record, with the winner netting 7,040 of the 9,625 gross purse. Having captured last years juvenile filly crown while earning 67,825, High Voltage appears well on her way to another-championship. The gray glamor gal boasts victories in the Acorn, Black-Eyed Susan and the Coaching Club American Oaks and seems destined to rule a stout choice tomorrow. As in the majority of her efforts, the daughter of Ambiorix will be ridden by Eddie Arcaro. Lalun Kentucky Oaks Winner Principal contention for Mr. Fitzs filly likely will come from Myrtles Jet, from the Maine Chance Farm of Mrs. Elizabeth N. Graham, and Lalun, a member of Harry F. Guggenheims Cain Hoy Stable. Myrtles Jet won the Alcibiades and Fritzettelast season and raced High Voltage to a close decision in the rich Selima. In her lone start this term, the daughter of Jet Pilot Myrtle Charm was third in the Betsy Ross Stakes. Laluns principal claim to fame is Continued on Page Fifty-Fiye High Voltage Tops Oaks Field of Ten at Delaware Myrtles Jet, Lalun Main Foes Of Phipps Filly in 9,625 Race Continued from Page One a victory in the Kentucky Oaks, following which she was runner-up behind High Voltage in the CCA Oaks. Walter Blum will handle Myrtles Jet, while Lalun will be ridden by Hank Moreno. Trainer Max Hirsch has entered a quartet of fillies overnight. They are Mrs, Edward Laskers Loquacious, King Ranchs Sin Igual and the Arnold Hanger team of Rico Reto and Rico Romance. Others in the field are Walter M. Jeffords Hibernia , and the Louis Lee Haggin n. coupling of Hen Party and Smart Devil. Of the Hirsch-trained foursome, three were winners of their most recent outings. Rico Reto was a winner over Smart Devil, Hen Party and Hibernia over a sloppy track Jast week end with a mile and a sixteenth in 1:47 Vs, while Loquacious was in a dead heat with Falcula at the same distance in 1:45 over a fast strip. Rico Romances time over a fast track was a pleasing 1:44. The other member of the entry Sin Igual has raced but twice, finishing second each time in maiden company. As mentioned in the preceding paragraph, Smart Devil, Hen Party and Hibernia raced behind Rico Reto here last Saturday. The first-named miss was mak-ing her first appearance of the year and should improve while both Hen Party and Hibernia are expected to appreciate a fast footing which figures to prevail for the O flics. Eight of the Oaks aspirants are possibilities for the forthcoming 5,000 added New Castle Handicap and the 10,000 added Delaware Handicap, last two-thirds of the "Distaff Big Three." The only in-eligibles are Rico Reto and Rico Romance. Should High Voltage be successful tomor-tow, it is understood that she will by-pass the New Castle in favor of the Gazelle in New York, then return to local action in the rich Delaware Cap in an effort to handle older rivals, a task which was a bit beyond her capabilities under the weight arrangements in the recent Top Flight.
