HAVENESS, well placed from the start, raced KIND MOUD into defeat and entered the stretch with a good lead, then was ridden out to the finish to retain her advantage. MISS J. B. saved ground while steadily working her wayMorward to the stretch, closed determinedly b through the stretch run, but could not seriously threaten the top one. BELBOOTS, a sharp factor from I the outset, faltered during the final furlong. WONDER BOY gave a good effort and had no excuse. POWDER I BLUE had a rough race. ROYAL SWAN lacked early foot. DEER-ACE was never dangerous. COLONEL SUN : raced wide. CAROLYN W., forced to race in the middle of the track throughout, was unable to reach serious Lcontention. VANTAGE, under light restraint to the stretch, responded readily when set down in the drive and wore down FIRST REFUSAL in the last sixteenth. The latter raced with JILTED GOB to the stretch, settled for the drive with a clear lead, but was unable-to hold his. entry mate, VANTAGE. JILTED GOB, avay sluggishly, was hustled into command before going a quarter mile, raced well to the stretch, but tired during the drive, SWIVET lacked early speed, but finished strongly when sent between horses during the stretch run. A foul claim against CHAR BOOTS by TORTILLAS rider was not allowed by the stewards. X1PP1 PIGEON, outrun to the stretch, closed fast in the middle of the track, but could not reach the top one. TORTILLA, well placed early, suffered interference leaving the three-eighths mile pole, made a game bid when sent to the inside for the stretch run, but could not overtake the leaders. BIG CAT moved up determinedly entering the stretch, reached the lead between calls, then failed to stay. SIR CHATTER was never dangerous. CHIC WAVE had early speed but nothing left for the drive. GREAT HABIT showed nothing. HEIRESS went to the front early, made the pace to the stretch, then gave way. Char Boots claimed by H. A. Trevellyan. Attendance, 8,601; Total Mutuel Pool, 78,834.
