Canadian Champ Overwhelms Foes in Old Woodbine Cap OLD WOODBINE, Toronto, Ont.r June 1. Bill Beasleys Canadian Champ confirmed his standing as the leading Canadian-bred with a facile triumph in the mile, and a furlong Inferno Handicap, co-feature on the final day of racing here at Old Woodbine. Leading his field from a step out of the stalls, he came to the final margin airing along with six lengths of daylight and no need of pressure. Ben Steens Argent, who had beaten Canadian Champ in the six and one-half furlongs Ultimus Handicap two weeks ago, finished second after chasing-the pace from the start. Frowde Seagrams Lawday was third another six lengths back and.a length before McMacken Stables King Maple. Canadian Champ covered the distance in a commendable time of 1:533s. best of the meeting.
